'Altcoin ETF Summer': Solana and XRP Lead a Crowded 2026 Approval Pipeline
2026-06-10
Bloomberg Intelligence analysts have described 2026 as a potential 'altcoin ETF summer,' with dozens of applications tied to tokens like Solana, XRP, Litecoin, and Cardano moving through the SEC's review pipeline, according to reporting from The Block and CryptoSlate.
The accelerated pipeline follows the SEC's approval of generic listing standards for crypto exchange-traded products in September 2025, which reduced the standard approval timeline from as long as 240 days to roughly 75 days for products meeting certain criteria, per The Block's coverage.
Solana has been widely cited as the furthest along in the pipeline, with the Franklin XRP ETF, launched in late 2025, separately reported to hold roughly $229 million in net assets as of early February 2026, according to CryptoSlate, illustrating meaningful early capital flows into regulated altcoin exposure products even ahead of a broader approval wave.
Analysts quoted by The Block cautioned that while approvals are likely to continue, the sheer volume of filings, over 100 pending crypto ETP applications by some counts, could eventually lead to product consolidation or liquidations for funds that fail to attract lasting investor demand.
